A Comeback for the Ages

A Comeback for the Ages
The Minnehaha Academy Boys Basketball 2016-17 got rolling in an entertaining fashion Saturday afternoon. The Redhawks were able to overcome a 17 point 2nd half deficit to defeat highly rated class AAA Orono 94-86 in Overtime. To say the comeback was just short of miraculous is no understatement. MA never held the lead in the 2nd half until there were just 5 seconds on the clock; from there – Orono hit 2 FT’s to send the contest to overtime. MA dominated the overtime, 13-3 for the exhilarating victory.
Freshman, Jalen Suggs, led all scorers with an amazing 42 point effort. Junior Lorenzo Smith showed he only knows how to count by 3s, by making 5 triples for his 15 points. Freshman Kaden Johnson came up huge with some clutch free throws and the go-ahead 3 late in regulation. Junior captain and star forward JaVonni Bickham added 12 points.
The MA boys host highly rated class AAA Totino-Grace tomorrow night, December 6th, at 7:00. Pack the gym and go Redhawks!
