Wolfpack Wins AAAA Football State Championship

On Friday, November 23, 2018, during their first ever appearance in the state tournament, the SMB Wolfpack played in the AAAA football state championship game against Willmar High School. It was an exciting game for Wolfpack fans inside of US Bank Stadium while they watched the athletes pull off an exciting win. The end score of the game was 44-18, allowing the Wolfpack to keep their undefeated record for the year.

Touchdowns during the game were scored by:

-Siegel Howard

-Jalen Suggs (two touchdowns)

-Kaden Johnson (two touchdowns)

-Tony Avila-Tovalin

Theo Crosby was successful with 5 extra points and a field goal.

After the game, @RedhawksAD on Twitter acknowledged a few of the seniors from the Wolfpack team. Here are some of the quotes from the tweets:

“Siegel Howard is a great kid, he’s positive despite setbacks he’s had physically including a knee surgery he had during this season, he never gave up and his toughness is unquestionable. He tackles everything moving and ran the ball extremely well.”

“Andrew Mollison sat out all of last season with an ACL Injury. He still came to every practice and game, he stayed a major part of the Team and then dominated on the D Line his Senior year – amazing perseverance.”

“JP Kilbride and the improvement of the O Line is a major reason for the Wolfpack’s success. There is no glory in O Line play, just servant leadership that this time around was rewarded with a Championship that will be remembered forever.”

“Can’t say servant leadership without thinking of our Managers Helen Baxter, Bitya Tefera and Avery New. They worked from August – November behind the scenes and are irreplaceable.”

“Lastly, Bennett Theisen chose MA over another school in St. Paul with a better Athletic reputation, he and we are glad he did! Bennett has won 5 State Titles: 2 in Baseball, 2 in Basketball and now a Football Title is one for the Thumb.”

Congrats to the SMB Wolfpack on their first state title!
