The Minnehaha Academy Girls Basketball program focuses on using the abilities God has blessed us with on the court. We try our best to play all out, all of the time. The Redhawks have a reputation for playing a fast paced, full court style. We’re proud of the fact that we’ve been to the State Tournament twice in the last decade, and we’re working hard to make it back soon. We’d be happy to have your daughter be a part of our proud tradition.
We hope to field a 6th grade team and two or three 7th/8th grade teams, based upon registration. We operate under the following basic parameters:
Placement Practices: For grades 7 & 8 are scheduled for early November.
Team Practices begin in mid-November. More information to follow once we have student placement completed and the team registration finalized.
Grade 7 & 8 games are generally 4:30, 5:45 or 7:00 starts during the week, (M, T, Th), beginning the first week of December. There may be a couple of Saturday tournaments. GRADE 6 games are Saturday mornings. All grades participate in an end-of-season tournament (late February).
Practice times for all teams will rotate. Early in the week we will attempt to schedule 6th graders early. Each team will practice 4x/week.
Practice 1 = 3:15-4:30
Practice 2 = 4:30-5:45
Practice 3 = 5:45-7:00
Practice 4 = 7:00-8:15
Once games begin, practices will be one-hour beginning at 3:15.
Practices are held M, T, Th or F at school. Practices may begin as early as 3:15 or as late as 7:15. Games for 6th grade teams are generally on Saturdays. Games for 7 & 8 grade teams are generally M, T or Th.
Practice Days: Girls Basketball teams will practice for one hour to one hour and fifteen minutes M, T, Th, F. We will attempt to maximize practice time and facilities for each team.
Practice Times: On a rotating basis, teams will practice at various times. Practices may begin as early as 3:05 and as late as 7:30, depending upon number of teams. At South Campus.
Game Days: Games are played on Saturdays for grade 6. Grades 7 & 8 games will be primarily M, T, Th for SSYO league play. Teams may enroll in additional tournaments on Saturdays.
Team Composition: 6th graders will play with 6th graders. If enrollment in the 6th grade is large, we will place players on teams. 7 & 8 graders will be mixed and will be placed on skill-level teams after two placement practices in the pre-season.
Captain's practices begin: two weeks before the official start.
Home games are played in the North Campus Gym.
