MA Girls’ Basketball Heads to State!
The saying goes: “You can’t spell March without MA!” The Girls’ Basketball Team will be making their 9th State Tournament appearance in the last 12 seasons thanks to a dominating section final 69-47 victory over St. Croix Lutheran.
The Redhawks came into the contest against the highly rated Crusaders knowing they needed a great performance to get back to State, and they got it! Sophomore Terra Rhoades, Freshman Taytum Rhoades, Freshman Nevaeh Galloway and Senior Sarah Kaminski combined to hit 7 1st half 3-pointers to the delight of the loud MA student section. MA led 44-16 at halftime, and the game was wrapped up early. Sarah Kaminski led all scorers with 21 points, Terra Rhoades added 15, Nevaeh Galloway 11, and Taytum Rhoades 9. Freshman Avery New had her best game of the season scoring 9 points and grabbing 9 rebounds.
The Redhawks will open up State Tournament playingWednesday night 8:00 at Mariucci Arena. After taking 3rd place in last year’s State Tournament, MA returns as a #3 seed this season. The opponent is New London-Spicer(23-6), led by legendary Coach Mike Dreier.
All MA fans are encouraged to come to the game, wear red and CHEER LOUD!
