Jose’ Williamson Signs with Daemen College
On Tuesday, May 2nd, the students at Minnehaha Academy celebrated the accomplishments of senior Jose’ Williamson as he signed his letter of intent to play on the men’s tennis team at Daemen College in Amherst, New York next year.
Jose’ Williamson is playing his 6th year of varsity tennis at Minnehaha Academy. Williamson has also lettered in basketball 3 times, and was awarded with an IMAC All Conference Award for basketball in 2017.
According to tennis coach Mark Norlander, Jose’ Williamson is one of the top tennis players ever at Minnehaha Academy. He joins the ranks of the following outstanding players from Minnehaha Academy:
-Jason Hall (’86) who won the state singles championship in 1986 and then went on to play for the University of Minnesota.
-Rob Warn (’96) who was twice 2nd place in the state singles championship (1994 and 1995), who won the state singles championship in 1996 and who then went on to play for Notre Dame.
-Scott Bean (’03) who won 3rd place in the state singles tournament in 2003 and then went on to play at Gustavus Adolphus.
Jose’ was a state singles tournament quarter finalist in 2016 and has hopes of returning to the state tournament this June.
