Wolfpack Football on to State Semi-Finals
Minnehaha Academy’s football team, the Wolfpack, is making history! For the first time in MSHSL history, Minnehaha has a football team in the state tournament. The Wolfpack (a cooperative team including athletics from Minnehaha Academy, The Blake School, St. Paul Academy, and Hope Academy) were undefeated (8-0) at the end of the regular season.
During the 5AAAA section tournament, the Wolfpack was ranked #1 in the section. They received a bye for the first round and went on to beat Orono as well as Benilde-St. Margaret’s School to become the section 5AAAA champions.
Lead by their head coach, Collin Quinn, the Wolfpack played their first game of the state tournament on Friday, November 9, 2018 against Delano High School. The game was played in St. Cloud. Despite the cold, a large crowd came to support the team.
The Wolfpack scored 14 points in the 2nd quarter. The first touchdown was scored by quarterback junior Jalen Suggs. The second touchdown was scored by junior Craig McDonald. Kicker Theo Crosby was successful on both extra points. The score was 14-0 at halftime.
Delano scored in the 3rd quarter after blocking a kick by the Wolfpack, bringing the score to 14-7. While it was a disappointing blow, the Wolfpack played the remainder of the game with strong defense.
With no scoring in the 4th quarter, the Wolfpack came away with the win and history will continue as they enter the AAAA State Semi-Finals. The next game will be played on Thursday, 11/15/2018 at 4:30pm at US Bank Stadium. Tickets are $16 for adults and $10 for students.
Congrats to our Wolfpack!
